A touch of Christmas

December 11, 2013 by 11 Comments

I’ve been busy adding some Christmas decorations to the living room and around the house and taking my time in doing so, enjoying every day of this very special season.  I decided to keep my mantel neutral….using white, greens and some sparkle.

Just a touch of this and a hint of that on the mantel….simple.

Christmas in the living room 1

The tray on the coffee table has some snow (fake) scattered on it….some fresh greens in a woodsy container, candles, and a couple of ornaments. Love the smell of fresh pine needles around Christmas time.

Being cooped up in the house for a couple of days last week I had too much time on my hand and started changing things around. I pulled out this vintage table runner that I embroidered when I was a young girl…I don’t know what made me think of it…but anyway, I found it tucked away in the linen closet and decided to use it on the coffee table.

In doing so, I also changed the arrangement on the tray a little.

The red poinsettia adds a nice punch of color and I also love the jingle pillow on the chair.

Tree Trimming

I trimmed our small table top tree and some vintage Christmas favorites dress up the secretary desk (hutch).

We don’t have any plans this Christmas, just enjoying the season one day at a time.  I hope you have a wonderful week!

I love the total look of the room. Reminded me that I did some embroidery as a young girl. I did pillowcases and dish towels, I do not have any of it though. I like the tray with the snow scattered on it, but you took it off, it is very pretty.

Every time I see a holiday vignette I love it, like I can’t seem to get enuf, giving me so much inspiration. Then I go running to find what I saw to see how it would work with what I have. Just love the fun of putting things together.
We’ve been shut up in house for last 2 weeks. Got snow (about 8 1/2 inches week ago yesterday, then more on the following Friday, maybe inch. Been pretty nippy here also, below zeros at night. I’m loving it, I love winter weather, getting all wrapped up, tromping in snow, playing with our dog in snow. I refuse to grow up that way I guess.
Hope you’re having a great holiday season, before we know it the holidays will be gone and back to real life. I’ll be busy cleaning up my craft messes, maybe even trying to organize some of them. Keeps me busy and out of trouble. I’d love to stay in our nice toasty cozy warm bed reading but have to be an adult, get up to get something accomplished. Oh bummer. Happy days
