Bunnies, again?

March 12, 2013 by 15 Comments

Hi sweet Friends,  how are you today?   It has been a busy week here at home.  Spring cleaning (fluffing) and some early spring planting on our Tower Garden, just to name a few on-going projects. Lots of fun and also a little work. Remember, when I shared about the bunnies in the terrarium last week? Well, here is the rest of the story.

Bunnies The terrarium became my inspiration for yet another tablescape or should I say, a very casual sideboard-scape.

Gift My sweet dil Aimee gifted me this really neat burlap coffee sack,  she picked up on one of her fun shopping trips.  It’s been stashed away since Christmas and I was thrilled to use it.

Burlap Bag

Easter Brunch 1 I just simply draped it over the sideboard and started adding dishes and decorations.  The bunnies took center-stage, in the terrarium, on top…and one green and white ceramic bunny next to the bread-board.

Easter Brunch 3 The wire basket in the background is holding the napkins and utensils.

Easter Brunch 2 I have to mention my one and only “Hutschenreuther” Easter egg.  It is a collectible ( Spring Egg 1998) I may just have  to check out E-bay,  if I decide to expand my collection.  Sound like a good idea to me!   Are you a collector?

What is the name of the sugar and creamer set on your sideboard?

Is there enuf room on here to compliment you on everything I see and so love? Clever idea using a terrarium. Everything you do is always so classy and very special. Love what I’ve seen of your home, very pretty. Your egg is exquisite.
I haven’t started my Easter/Spring decorations as yet, still deciding what/how I want to do them. Got some really cute white ceramic bunnies at Habitat and some spring colored burlap ribbons to start with. Also bought an aqua colored metal bird cage at Michaels on sale. I could go crazy in there with all the Ashland collection items they’ve had on sale.
    Happy Days Moni

Ahhh. I must have missed the final plate reveal. I like them very much! The figurines remind me of being a little girl. But why? I know my mom didn’t have them. So I enjoyed yours! Yes your egg is special.
You asked if any of us collect. This one just happened upon me. As a child I fell in love with Grant Woods “American Gothic” painting. So family started sending me ads using that painting to sell a house (We are so happy to sell your house) The spoofs have shown up in cards, scary hallo gram Halloween decor (as my first graders would say), to showing Japanese car makers as the couple to depict the then departure of American made cars. It’s been used in a serious manner as in the Oklahoma bombing of the federal building, building in back and couple very sad in front. It’s been used to show trends in society (remember yuppies?), the state of seniors (he’s holding a burger flipper with a hat on for a burger place, she has a hat on that says Merry maids)… It shows what is America today? So my paper collection, stored in a bag for it only holds meaning to me! Is unusual yet personal. One interesting note~ric rac was first painted by Grant Wood in this painting! It is on display at the Art Institute of Chicago. Maybe ill go there and go to Iowa to have my photo taken in front of the house he used. As a teacher my students used oil pastels, crayons and pencil to make themselves either the man or the woman. A classmate was the other. They wrote why they loved being An American. Only first grade! But I think I made collectors out of a few of them I’m sure!!!

I need to pull the “eggs” out of the ones I have and use them for Easter..silly me. Thanks for the swift kick, ;-) .

Wonderful sideboard with those hopping bunnies. The burlap bag was just a great way to transform your area with texture. The green and white colors are great to have a spring vignette with the touch of a special egg. I like your idea of more to collect. Happy St. Pat’s Day!
