Fun Friday Find 2

Last Friday I took a little break from yard work and  visited a garage sale.  The lady had lots of antique dishes and accessories on her tables, most of them were picked over by the time I got there, but I managed to walk away with a nice big glass dome.   I’ve been looking for one of these for a long time.  The label had ‘Bard’s handblown glass” on it, so I figured it was a good one.  I paid $10.00 for it and I think I got a good deal.

Back at home out came the sandpaper, white paint and paint brush.  I spray painted the base white and after adequate drying time I brushed on another coat of paint. I let it dry completely before taking some sandpaper and lightly sanding the rim of the base.  During the drying time I cleaned up the glass dome.  Here she is all shiny and pretty…

There are so many fun ways to display items under a glass dome….for now I chose to fill it with sea shells.

I just started layering the sea treasures and even tucked in a faux hydrangea to fill in the gap and add more texture.

I’ve been collecting shells for a while now and love to display them over the summer months, adding a little coastal flair to my humble home.

This is where the glass dome found it’s new home – on our built-in. Looks like I went from Easter bunnies to sea-shells in a hurry,  that’s okay, summer is just around the corner. I can always change it up and if you know me, I might just do that.

As always, thank you for visiting!
