Getting ready for Company

November 7, 2012 by 12 Comments

Are you expecting company over the Thanksgiving Holidays?  If so,  you will find yourself scurrying to get things done in and around the  house.  Don’t worry, it will all come together just fine.  We’ll be hosting Thanksgiving this year and we are so excited about family coming to visit. Right now I am in “task mode”. I’ve added a couple of “Holiday” touches to one of the guest bedrooms to warm it up a bit.  I’ve shared about this room with you before here.  This bedroom is a work in progress….very simple decor for now, but I’m looking forward to making a couple changes in the New Year. A tray filled with a couple of favorite books or magazines and a snack or two, simply says “Welcome”.

I’ve placed a glass container  holding some old photos on the nightstand…..we just love going down memory lane! And I’ve added a candle and some greenery to this lantern with a piece of burlap tied to the top.

And here it is again next to the armoire.  The lantern appears to be really big sitting on this chair…or is the chair on the smaller side??  Hmmm….Oh well….  I think this room is ready for our sweet family.     What about you?   Will you decorate all of your guest bedrooms?

It’s been fun chatting with you today….come back soon and I will share more of our life here at home.

  1. What pretty and welcoming touches for your guests, Moni! I love the lantern… do you have one of those flameless candles on a timer? I really like the idea of having the old photos in the glass! I’m so happy that you are having loved ones come and visit!

  2. Beautiful!! Can’t wait to visit!!! XO, Aimee

Your guest room looks so pretty and inviting! We don’t have a guest room, nor are we hosting Thanksgiving. We will be going over to my mom’s house – a mere 45 minute drive. 🙂

  4. I love the glass container with old pictures! What a great idea!

Hi Moni! I can tell by your special little touches that you must be a gracious hostess. I love the photographs in the glass jar. Your guests probably love looking through them. I also like the lantern with the candle and greenery. I think I have the same lantern, but never thought to tie it with burlap. I might have to steal that idea this year! Hope you’re having a great day!

Your home looks so cozy and inviting. I love the lantern on the chair. what a great way to display it. I can’t get enough of lantern, have them scattered all over the house so you can bet I’ll be using this idea in the future. Thanks

    Hi Moni,
Love your ideas for the guest room and love the lantern and armoire! I started many years ago putting a chocolate mint or peppermint on the pillows when my best friend came for a visit (don’t have out-of-town family). Did it as a “funny” but over the years it has become tradition, along with some kind of little surprise…Christmas ornament, special recipe, etc. It’s so much fun to do this and both my guest and I look forward to it!

The room is just beautiful! The photos in the jar are really neat. I have some in a jar in my family room and it’s amazing how many people really take the time to look at them. So glad I found your blog today!
