GW Find

February 16, 2013 by 10 Comments

You might have noticed the following picture hanging in our Guest Room, as I shared about the painted dresser here.  I almost walked out of the GW store empty-handed, when out of the corner of my eye I spotted this little jewel sitting  on a shelf.  It appeared a little dated, but that was something that could be fixed in a short amount of time.

Changing out the mat and frame brought the picture back to life.   I also removed the non-glare glass that was covering the pretty piece of art done in acrylic paints.

I’m so happy I brought this little jewel home with me, not bad for $4.00. Have you found any great art-work at GW lately?

You have a good eye – that picture looks so much better in the new mat and frame! I haven’t found any good art work at GW lately, but I have found some other treasures. :-)

I wish I had your “eye” but I’m learning.
    Thank you for sharing,
Teresa (going to visit your bench’s post as I’m looking for inspirations for a bench in my kitchen)

Yes! It is pretty to gaze upon! As my students would do art cut so our 12×18 paper made a perfect mat, the older kids would come in on their hour lunch to help me. We’d hold up various paper mats to see what brought out the art best. Amazing what that did for the students art!!! The older kids and I would decide, give our opinions, and what fun to see first grade art truly look like master pices!! We had a wonderful art teacher so you’d be amazed !!! The frame and mat makes a difference and I’m glad you could see it!!

  6. I would have walked right by it with the brown frame and blue mat. I love that you can “see” potential in things. It’s like you picked it up and buffed it until it shone like the diamond it was meant to be. All it needed was a little love. So glad it found a home with you. ;-)

I so love little tables like that, they seem to go with whatever style you put them with. I’m envious and sure love how you painted it. Perfect. Leaving the top as it was it great. Gives the table it’s due for hanging in there til you changed it. Your table vignette is very nice, love your old fountain pen. Do they still make them?
    Happy Week Moni
