Jumping on the Bandwagon

August 9, 2014 by 11 Comments

Hi y’all!  I hope you’re enjoying this wonderful summer-weekend.  Lot’s of sunshine, that’s for sure!  We had some visitors pop in on Friday – Nici (our daughter) and family stopped by and spent the night with us, they are enroute to AZ.  Scamp their little dog will stay with us during their vacation and keep our Desdi company.  I can tell he misses his family already. Don’t worry “Scamper doo”  that is what my husband calls him, we’ll take good care of you.

On Friday, I ventured out to a couple of estate sales in the area…I’m jumping on the bandwagon with a demijohn purchase.

For now it became part of a small vignette on the sideboard but,  I’m pretty sure it will end up on top of a the kitchen cabinet one of these days.  The price of the demijohn was 8 dollars,  I could have waited until prices were slashed at the sale, usually the 3rd day of the sale, chances are it would have been picked up by someone else before.  So, I’m happy I bought it.

Love the texture of the wicker and how it compliments other accessories on the tray.  The hobnail bottle was also an estate sale find, a great companion to the demijohn. Is this the start of a new collection?  Not sure, but I don’t think so.

What are you doing this weekend?  Whatever it is, enjoy and be blessed!

I just purchased what the woman at the Antique shop called Fiasco & sometimes Fiascoiti. She said that these were bottles that were damaged in the process of making them, so they put the wicker around the bottles to cover the error(s). Anyway, I like them & I got 3 bottles for under $15. Now I’m going to “google” demi-johns & see if there is a difference. And I love your other bottle that you got on your vignette!

I recently picked up a demijohn at an Antique Mall. I paid a bit more, but around my area they are few and far between. I saw a large one at the first Flea Market we went to this summer and passed it by thinking I would come back around and get it…..well, it was gone and I have been kicking myself ever since! This one I picked up has wide very thin strips woven around, very interesting. I would love to find more and am always on the look out. Your vignette is wonderful, love the mix!

I love the idea of putting a live plant in a pitcher. I am going to have to try this. Thanks for the inspiration.

  5. Your vignette with the bottles looks so pretty. I love the demijohn and it is in such nice condition. I have a few and really love them. One huge one … I would love to take the wicker off to enjoy the beautiful bottle, but afraid of what condition I might find the bottle in.
    Have a great day.

The demijohn is new to me – I’ll have to look that up. If you are late getting on the wagon, I must be running a few miles behind or something! 🙂
Thank you for sharing your lovely vignette!

  9. It’s a lovely setting…thanks for sharing with the Thursday Blog Hop!
