Mantel – Changes

January 11, 2013 by 17 Comments

I hope you’re not tiring of my constant tweaking!  It all started after I found this trophy at a recent estate sale. The cup is made out of pewter and is about 7 inches tall. It is a nice addition to my pewter collection.

trophy cupI remembered some antlers stashed away out in the garage and brought them in.  My husband went on a  deer-hunt a couple of years ago, first time going, he hasn’t been since. Anyway, he shot a deer and brought his prize home -the antlers only -ultimately to be mounted on a plaque. It is still on his “to-do” list.

Winter MantleI placed the deer antlers in the center of the mantel,  the trophy in front and filled it with some faux greens and pine-cones.

Winter Mantle 1The trophy and antlers are flanked by two shabby urns (turned up-side down)  that I’m using for candle-holders at the moment.

I like the seasonal mix of natural and rustic elements against the red brick.

Living RoomOh, do you see the pretty orchid plant by the chair?  It’s the real thing~ Lowe’s Home Improvement (clearance item) , I hope I can manage to keep it alive.   Moving right along to another project – looking at this picture I see a couple of items that should have been removed or changed up before taking the picture. I need to pay more attention to the details…learning.

I’m so happy you stopped by ….please come back soon!

Moni, you know you have us all looking for those items, don’t you? I don’t see anything that looks out of place, it all looks very nice, as usual. Love the trophy! Have a great day!

    Hi Moni,

Not at all tired of the tweaking, actually love it. I will make a comment though. From my perspective looking at the mantel it looks as though things seem to be off center. Is it possible that the clock is closer to the left side of center. That almost sounds like a political statement lol, I make my hubby crazy with the tape measure and hanging things, now I’m making my dear sons in law crazy too. Love you blog, wondering if you actually tried the Rigatoni recipe yet and what your thoughts of it were. Looks yummy but at 60 years old, I am only making tried and true recipes.
Thanks for all the love and attention your pour into your blog.

Hi Moni, Your mantel is a look I like. I’ve been looking for a trophy/loving cup for some time, but the ones I see are priced above what I’d like. Yours looks great and I like your turned over urns..I do that too. 🙂

Moni, your winter mantel is lovely. I like the natural elements. Clever of you to use the urns upside down for candles.
