My husband loves anything “ROCKY ROAD”….I thought of him today when I first laid eyes on this recipe.
He will be surprised to find a pan of brownies on the counter when he comes home from work.
While standing at the check-out counter at my local market I picked up this handy “Hershey’s Holiday Favorites” Recipe booklet. Pictured on the cover was a German Black Forest Cherry Torte…that got my attention. It looked so scrumptious….perfect for the holidays. For now, I’ll try the brownies and plan on making the torte later.
1 1/4 cups miniature marshmallows
1 cup Hershey’s Special Dark Chocolate Chips or Hershey’s Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine
1 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/3 cup Hershey’s Cocoa
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease 9-inch square baking pan.
Stir together marshmallows, chocolate chips and nuts; set aside.
Place butter in large microwave-safe bowl. Microwave at Medium (50%) 1 to 1 1/2 minutes or until melted.
Add sugar, eggs and vanilla, beating with spoon until well blended. Add flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt; blend well. Spread batter in prepared pan.
Bake 22 minutes. Sprinkle chocolate chip mixture over top. Continue baking 5 minutes or until marshmallows have softened and puffed slightly. Cool completely. With wet knife, cut into squares.
These brownies are pretty gooey, that’s what makes them so delicious, right? It also makes it a challenge to cut a perfect square….as you can tell by my picture ( not square) oh, well. I ended up taking a small plate of baked goodies over to our next door neighbors….hope they’ll enjoy them.
Well, this day is coming to a close, I love your visits and sweet comments……
Blessings to you today,
