Updates in the Guest Bedroom

July 25, 2013 by 21 Comments

Hi Friends, how are you?  I manage to keep myself pretty busy since the grandkids left this past weekend.   I’m making a few minor changes in the guest bedroom.  Once again I changed my mind on the other guest bedroom and would like to turn it into an office/craft room.  I will share more on that later.  It all began when I came across this nightstand on craigslist.   It’s been parked in our garage for a while waiting for a new paint job.

While we enjoyed some cooler temps I enlisted the grands help with the sanding and priming of the nightstand.

Who wouldn’t want to run an electric sander?  We took turns of course. After sanding and priming I painted it a semi-gloss white all over. Please excuse the messy garage… yet another project waiting in the wings :)

New knobs were added,  I found them at Hobby Lobby.

A fresh coat of paint….what a difference!

I also fluffed the bedding by adding a touch of gingham.  The shams and comforter came from Target – Threshold collection.

This little bedroom is coming along, there is always room for more pretties.  I’m on the lookout for a cute bed-side lamp and a picture or two for the walls.  Stay tuned for more updates in this room.

Thank you so much for stopping by….I’ll chat with you soon!

That nightstand looks really cute. You’re right. A coat of paint and new hardware transformed it! Hey, since you are working on a bedroom and I am giving my master bedroom a mini makeover, can I ask you and your readers a question? I need to add blackout shades to the window. What have you or your readers done to black out your windows? Is there a thrifty and stylish way to do this?

Hi Moni, your guest bedroom reminds me a bit of mine..I have similar bedding from Target in there, but a much older collection with sage colored checkered pattern….Good job on the night stand!

I hate using an electric sander, so I normally leave that up to the husband. The white you chose is very crisp and works really well in the room.
